Our Mission
VPNMeter exists because a connected icon, and a review, do not tell you whether a VPN works on your connection. We built tools that measure it instead.
Every test on VPNMeter runs in your browser - no accounts, no downloads. Google Analytics runs on the site; see the privacy policy. We show you the raw readings behind every result.
What We Test
IP & DNS Leaks
We check if your real IPv4, IPv6, and DNS resolver are exposed even with your VPN active.
Speed
Real download, upload, ping, and jitter measurements - not synthetic benchmarks.
Encryption
The TLS version and key exchange your browser negotiated with this site, and mixed content - graded A, B, C or F. It cannot see the VPN tunnel’s cipher.
Kill Switch
We read your IPv4 address every two seconds. Force-quit your VPN app to see whether your kill switch holds.
WebRTC Leaks
Browsers can expose your real IP via WebRTC even when connected to a VPN.
Fingerprinting
Advanced sites can identify you through your browser's unique fingerprint - regardless of VPN.
Our Principles
- ✓No affiliate links - we do not earn commission from VPN providers.
- ✓Nothing stored without a reason - tests run in your browser, and a result is stored only if you tick the box to share it. We never store your IP address. Our own server counts page views without IP addresses or cookies. Google Analytics also runs on the site, through Google’s Site Kit plugin, and sets its own cookies - see the privacy policy.
- ✓Open methodology - our test logic is documented and transparent.
- ✓No fake results - every figure comes from a measurement: your browser’s, our server’s lookup of your address, or our lab’s.
